Paco Marcial

Paco Marcial (b. Mexico City) is a sculptor whose work channels the aesthetics, philosophy, and mythology of motorsport. He received his BFA from the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas (ENAP-UNAM) and pursued postgraduate studies at the Jan Van Eyck Akademie in the Netherlands. His practice often blurs the lines between conceptual sculpture, mechanical engineering, and romantic fantasy. Marcial is the founder of Écurie Marchal, a meta-conceptual racing team of sculptures now based in New York. 

"I am the Founder, Director, Racing Team Manager, Engineer, Pilot, and Mechanic of Écurie Marchal - a philosophical and meta-conceptual racing team of sculptures. Founded in Modena, Italy in 2008, and now operating out of New York, Écurie Marchal is a vessel for my obsession with precarity, speed, fantasy, brutality, and beauty. My sculptures exist in the slipstream between memory and color. I believe that every color we see becomes a feeling, and those feelings-if we let them-build the future from our past."
