Alberto Alejandro Rodríguez (b. 1995, Havana, Cuba) is a Cuban artist whose practice moves between drawing, sculpture, and installation to explore the relationship between architecture and landscape. He graduated from the San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts in 2015 and the University of the Arts of Cuba (ISA) in 2020, and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Artistic Production and Research at the University of Barcelona. Rodríguez’s work expands classifications around human interaction with built environments, focusing on overlooked structures and urban sites to question how cultural heritage is defined and remembered.
Alberto Alejandro Rodríguez (b. 1995, Havana, Cuba) lives and works in Barcelona. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts “San Alejandro” (2015) and the University of the Arts of Cuba (ISA, 2020), and holds a Master’s degree in Artistic Production and Research from the University of Barcelona. Working across drawing, sculpture, and installation, Rodríguez explores the relationship between architecture, landscape, and social space, focusing on overlooked structures, ruins, and urban sites to question how cultural heritage is defined and remembered. His sculptures and assemblages often incorporate salvaged building materials—plasterboard, wood, iron, and wallpaper—retrieved from abandoned buildings in Havana, transforming erosion into a physical archive of time and memory. Solo exhibitions include Destruktion (532 Gallery Thomas Jaeckel, New York, 2020), Heterotopy(13th Havana Biennale, 2019), and Space: Past Present (532 Gallery, 2024). His work is held in the Ella Fontanals-Cisneros Collection and has been reviewed in The Brooklyn Rail, Hypermedia Magazine, and CdeCuba.
