Koji Nakamura (b. 2001, Shimosuwa, Nagano Prefecture) is a Japanese artist working across sculpture, installation, and intermedia practices. He graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts in 2025, where he studied Intermedia Art in the Faculty of Fine Arts. His exhibitions in Tokyo, Yokohama, and Osaka often transform everyday spaces—from bars and movie theaters to galleries and warehouses—into stages for humorous yet emotionally charged characters.
Koji Nakamura (b. 2001, Shimosuwa, Nagano Prefecture) graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Intermedia Art, in 2025. Working across sculpture, installation, drawing, and kinetic media, he draws on the animistic traditions of the Suwa region—where massive wooden pillars have long been objects of worship—to explore spiritual presence in objects and the transmission of that reverence in contemporary life. A yellow puppet made by his father became the starting point for the ongoing project Can I Make 100 Friends?, in which he creates companion figures that examine attachment, solitude, and relationality. He also produces kinetic works such as the Metamorphose guitar series. Since 2023 he has exhibited in former movie theaters, bars, warehouses, and galleries across Tokyo, Yokohama, and Osaka, and launched the fictional toy company Bombori Studio. In 2026 he presents a solo exhibition at Nick White, Omotesando, Tokyo.
