Shuto Mizukami Japanese, b. 2001

Shuto Mizukami (b. 2001, Tokyo) is a Japanese sculptor currently pursuing an MFA in Sculpture at Tokyo University of the Arts, having graduated at the top of his BFA Sculpture class in 2025. His practice emphasizes tactile materiality, combining resin, paint, ceramics, and concrete into whimsical, myth-infused forms. Domestic and house-like motifs often contain intimate oil paintings of cats or other living beings, framing the home as a site of nourishment, everyday care, and obscured legacies. Solo exhibition: The Early Stages of Mizukami (Hidari Zingaro, Nakano, 2023). Group exhibitions include The Cat with Wings(koen, Nakameguro, 2025), In Bloom at 532 Gallery Thomas Jaeckel (2025), and others in Tokyo. Awards include the Salon de Printemps Prize (Tokyo University of the Arts Graduation Works, 2025), Heisei Art Award (2025), and Chris Le Award at GEISAI #22 (2023).
