Creating collage is simultaneously a meditative and an experimental process for me. Cutting the pieces of paper that are integral to each piece is a time-consuming process that requires concentration, dexterity and mindfulness. My mood is meditative. I don't begin with a fixed image in mind. As I experiment, I allow form to emerge. My collages are landscapes in my mind. I feel light, air and space there. This way it is far more interesting and exciting than any preconceived notion I may have had. The act of making itself helps me envision what I am seeking.
