Violet Sweep captures the fluid energy of a gesture unfolding across the canvas. Broad, rhythmic bands of violet, blue, yellow, and turquoise move diagonally through the composition, creating a sense of continuous movement and shifting depth. Fine lines and subtle variations in texture reveal the physical process behind the painting, while its layered colors recall flowing water, atmospheric currents, and formations within the earth. Through this interplay of movement and material, Riede creates an abstract landscape that feels simultaneously expansive and intimate.
