Kazue Taguchi

Kazue Taguchi explores the ethereal and intangible effects of light and reflection. Inspired by stained glass windows in European churches, Taguchi works with reflective materials including glass, mirrors, plastic, and light. Taguchi has been a resident artist at the Corning Museum of Glass, Pilchuck Glass School, Cité Internationale des Arts, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, the Newark Museum, Vermont Studio Center, and Koganecho Bazaar in Yokohama, Japan. She received an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University, a BFA at Joshibi University of Art and Design in Japan, and has studied at the Barcelona Glass Foundation. Awards include, The Agency for Cultural Affairs Government of Japan, the Second Prize from the Jutta Cuny- Franz Foundation in Dusseldorf, Germany, Finalist of the Bombay Sapphire Prize Exhibition in London, Finalists of “Young Glass” Glass Museum Ebeltoft in Denmark. She has held solo exhibitions at mhPROJECTnyc, New York City, Kunst Palast Museum-Glasmuseum Hentrich, Düsseldorf, and the Alcorcon Glass Museum in Madrid, Spain and so on. She also did the stage set for “Centennial celebration for John Cage: Competing time and spaces” at the Kanagawa prefectural gallery in Yokohama, Japan (2011), “Chaconne” at the Sophiensaele theater in Berlin, Germany (2011, 2012, 2019). “The Ocean of Forgiveness” by Efrain Rozas at Contemporary Art Museum, Lima Peru (2022).
