Armando Marino

Armando Mariño is a Cuban-born painter, sculptor, and installation artist recognized for his vibrant use of color and exploration of complex social themes. Born into a family of scientists, Mariño chose to pursue art, studying at the Provincial School of Arts in Santiago de Cuba and the "Enrique José Varona" Superior Pedagogic Institute in Havana. He further refined his skills at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam.

Mariño's work often delves into issues such as race, gender, human trafficking, and cultural identity, employing parody and pastiche to challenge perceptions. His bold, layered compositions draw from diverse sources, including magazines, the internet, and art history, creating a dialogue between contemporary culture and traditional narratives.

Throughout his career, Mariño has participated in numerous residencies, including those at the Bronx Museum of the Arts and the Rijksakademie. His works are held in various public and private collections, such as the National Museum of Fine Arts in Havana and the Deutsche Bank Collection in the United States.

Now based in New York, Mariño continues to produce thought-provoking art that resonates globally.
